Courses
The requirements for admission for all pre-dental students in the United States include English, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology or zoology, and physics generally one year of each. There are some schools who require in addition anatomy, biochemistry, calculus, psychology, speech, and some course work in humanities and social sciences.
The elective courses suggested include anatomy, embryology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, philosophy, anthropology, psychology, economics, political science, sociology, history, speech communication and art. As one is preparing to enter dental school he would choose his general education according to the specific requirements for that school.

Prerequisites
To prepare for the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) and fulfill necessary prerequisites the following courses are required:
English Two Semesters of English are required to fulfill admission requirements at most dental schools. The following courses are suggested: Writing- 1010, 2010, 3200, 3400,3510, 3700; English- 2500, 3510, 3520, 3610 Biology One to two years. To prepare for the DAT and the work associated with dental school students should complete the following: Biol 1000 General Biology (F, S, Su) Biol 2315 Human Anatomy (F, S) Biol 2320 Human Physiology (F, S, Su) Biol 3080 Pre-Dental Orientation (F Only) Biol 4955 Dental Observation (Any semester after 3080) Chemistry Two years (prerequisite Math 1050) General Chemistry 1210, 1220 with labs 1230, 1240 (starts F, S, Su) Organic Chemistry 2310, 2320 with labs 2330, 2340 (starts F, S, Su) Physics One Year (prerequisite Math 1050 and 1060) General Physics 2010, 2020 with labs 2019, 2029 (or 2110 series - Prereq: Math 1210) (Engineering Physics 2210, 2220 with labs 2219, 2229 also fulfills this requirement) *Physics is not on the DAT, but is required for admission
